U.S. Constitution
This year, the United States is marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The revolutionary ideas of 1776 and the national framework established in 1787 laid the foundation for America’s democracy. Celebrations are organized by two organizations: the non-partisan congressional Commission; and , the White House Task Force, chaired by Donald Trump.
American democracy faces peril today primarily from extreme partisan polarization, executive aggrandizement, and the erosion of institutional norms and the rule of law.
