Titel | Changing the Constitution |
Beschreibung/Kommentar |
America's constitutional government has changed over time as a result of amendments to the U.S. Constitution, Supreme Court decisions, legislation, and other practices. Students will analyse examples of each type of change to determine their impacts on our constitutional goverment (USA: iCivics 2016-18) Examples include the War Powers Act of 1973, legislative oversight, the 24th Amendment, Harper v. Virginia Board of Elections, and more! This lesson also includes a template for analyzing additional examples of change. "Out of almost 12,000 amendments proposed since the founding, only 27 have been adopted. That’s one every 13.5 years on average, not counting the Bill of Rights, which were adopted as a package deal shortly after the Constitution was ratified." (Jesse Wegman: Thomas Jefferson Gave the Constitution 19 Years. Look Where We Are Now? New York Times |
